Use Screen Cleaning for the touchscreen; prepare the exterior separately. Screen Cleaning prevents accidental screen inputs. It is not a conveyor-car-wash mode and does not establish that the car can roll freely.

Checked 17 October 2026 against the original UK G6 handbook, printed pages 263–265 and 269. Match the handbook and XOS layout in your car; this does not certify every later G6 edition. UK owner cleaning questions prompted this guide. No member posts or photographs are reproduced.

Clean the screen without changing settings

  1. Park safely before cleaning. Open Settings → Display → Screen Cleaning, or use the screen-cleaning control in the swipe-down quick menu where provided.
  2. Use the special soft, lint-free cloth specified in the handbook. It rules out glass cleaner, wet wipes and statically charged cloths for the central display and instruments.
  3. Wipe gently while clean mode is active. Follow the on-screen exit instruction for your software version, then check that the normal display and controls have returned before driving.

The glass-cleaner advice for windows does not apply to the touchscreen. Do not spray household cleaner onto the display or its edges. If you have already used a product and see persistent marks, photograph them and keep the product details; do not escalate to solvents or harder rubbing.

Before an exterior wash

The handbook says to close doors, bonnet, boot and charge port. Wash a cool body out of direct sunlight; rinse grit away before hand washing with a neutral vehicle cleaner, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth.

Check the actual closures yourself. A remote app status or a routine called “car wash” is not a physical closure check. Keep the key safely with you and tell anyone helping which openings must remain closed.

Using a pressure washer

XPENG specifies a moving nozzle at least 30 cm from the body. Avoid spraying the charging-port opening/closing area or forcing water into seals and openings. Its warnings distinguish ordinary rinsing from directing a high-pressure jet at vulnerable areas. See the UK handbook cleaning section.

More pressure is not a solution to a patch you cannot reach. Work from stable ground and use a suitable reach aid without leaning on glass or trim. If you cannot reach safely, ask for help rather than climbing on a wheel or sill. After a winter wash, check water has not been left around handles where it could freeze.

Automatic wash versus a moving conveyor

Ask the operator whether the car stays parked or must be carried through in Neutral. Those are different requirements. The cited cleaning section says to follow the operator's instructions, but does not provide a complete free-rolling conveyor procedure.

Do not treat Screen Cleaning, an XCOMBO routine, selecting Neutral alone or another brand's video as that procedure. Before committing to a conveyor, match the exact vehicle's documented instructions and the operator's requirements. If you cannot establish a compatible procedure, choose a stationary wash. Do not experiment with gear selection, parking brakes or leaving the seat while on the conveyor.

If something behaves differently after cleaning

  • Controls changed while wiping: check whether Screen Cleaning was actually active. Restore the affected setting while parked; a factory reset is not the first step.
  • Charge flap moved during pressure washing: stop directing water at it and inspect closure normally. Do not keep triggering the mechanism with the jet.
  • A camera view is blurred: inspect the outside lens for water or residue and use the matching handbook's cleaning method. A blurred image does not establish a software fault.
  • Water appears inside or a warning persists: stop the wash, document the location and conditions, and arrange inspection. Do not remove trim or apply a heat gun to diagnose it.

PRACTICAL NEXT STEP · MyXPENG

Test the behaviour. Keep the evidence.

Applies to: Original UK G6 handbook pp263–265/269; screen-cleaning mode is not a conveyor-wash mode.

Evidence checked · Review due

First useful check

Prepare closures, screen mode and washing equipment using the steps above before wet cleaning.

Read the result

The screen stays protected from accidental touch during the documented cleaning mode; this does not certify a free-rolling wash procedure.

Stop or change approach: Stop with damaged seals, unsafe washer pressure/distance or uncertain conveyor requirements.

Prepare a useful record

Model/edition, cleaning mode, equipment instructions and any affected area.

Evidence and answer standard

Documented checks; outcome depends on the test. The date records an evidence review, not a physical test of your car. A forum report can identify a question; it cannot establish a universal repair.
