Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the XPENG G6: UK Owner Guide
The UK New G6 brochure lists wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Start with the car’s phone-connection screen and your phone’s setup prompts, then check a map and audio before you drive; ordinary Bluetooth music pairing alone is not proof that projection is working.

Wireless equipment is confirmed for the UK New G6 brochure. Earlier G6 editions, ports and software layouts need their own handbook; this page does not assign them a New G6 USB port or menu.
Connect and check your phone
- Prepare while parked. Turn on the infotainment system, keep the intended phone with you and open the car’s supported phone-pairing/projection screen. Keep other drivers’ media phones from competing during this first test; leave their vehicle keys authorised.
- For iPhone: enable Siri and Wi-Fi, then follow the car’s wireless CarPlay prompts. On the phone, open Settings → General → CarPlay and select the car when it appears. For an existing CarPlay Wi-Fi network, Apple also asks you to check Auto-Join. The vehicle’s own handbook determines how to enter its pairing mode.
- For Android: keep Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Location Services enabled during wireless setup, with mobile-data coverage. Pair the car through the phone’s Bluetooth settings and approve the prompts on both screens. If Android Auto does not open after pairing, select its icon or start prompt on the car display. Android Auto is integrated into supported Android phones; do not download an unofficial APK.
- Check the result. Open a map, play audio and check the intended call-audio route while parked. On the UK New G6 illustrated in its brochure, the steering-wheel back button returns to the XPENG dashboard. Use it to check you can reach vehicle controls, then return to projection; other layouts may provide a Home/XPENG screen control.
You should see: the CarPlay or Android Auto interface on the car display, with the intended phone providing maps and audio. Bluetooth music without that interface is a different connection result.
If it will not connect or keeps dropping
Only one phone fails: for iPhone, check Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are on, Siri is enabled and the CarPlay network has Auto-Join on.
To recreate the saved projection relationship, use Settings → General → CarPlay → your car → Forget This Car, then pair through the car again. Check compatibility/OS and compare another compatible phone if available.
For Android’s saved-car list, use Settings → Connected devices → Connection preferences → Android Auto → Previously connected cars; read the scope before using Google’s “Forget all cars”, which affects other saved cars too.
- A wired method is confirmed on your own edition: compare a known-good data cable and the assigned data port. Google recommends a cable under one metre with no hub or extension. A charging-only socket or aftermarket adapter is not the same test as supported direct projection.
Both phones fail, or native XOS also freezes: For the earlier UK G6 with the matching steering-wheel controls, park and hold the voice wake-up and mute buttons together to restart the instrument and centre displays, then check cameras, climate and navigation.
Use this only for that documented edition; an unresponsive display with missing required safety information means stay parked. The G6 display-recovery guide provides further fault detail.
If the problem persists, ask XPENG to reproduce the connection with your phone and check infotainment/port operation. Give the model/build, phone/OS, wired or wireless method and the second-phone/cable result; update timing is useful evidence, not proof of the cause.
Do setup and comparisons while parked. Keep official software and normal security prompts, and do not delete phone-key authorisation to repair a media connection.
