XPENG G6 XOS OTA Update: Preparation, Installation and Failure Recovery
On the earlier UK G6, open the offered System Update notice, read it and use Reserve Update for a time when the car can stay locked and unused. The cited international 2025 RHD handbook also requires more than 10% charge, Park and a safe location; meet any stricter requirement shown by your own car.
The reservation and installation controls below follow the earlier UK G6 handbook. Use the requirements on the update your car actually offers.
What to do
- While parked, check the full installed version. The earlier UK route is General, then the XOS version at the top; use the matching route if your edition differs.
- Read the release actually offered to your vehicle. Finish necessary charging and choose enough unused time for installation; check all displayed conditions.
- For the earlier UK in-car reservation, open the status-bar update icon/System Update notice, choose Reserve Update, select the time and confirm. Leave the vehicle locked before that time.
- Alternatively, where the matching app offers the new-version card, open it for the correct car/version and use Update Now. Follow its locking/completion instructions.
- A reserved time can be cancelled/rescheduled before installation starts. The earlier UK Auto Update option uses 03:00; check whether it is enabled rather than turning it on as a troubleshooting step.
- After completion, confirm the expected full build and check the controls needed for the next journey/charge while parked.
What to expect: Installation completes and reports the expected build. No offer, a failed download and a failed installation remain distinct states.
The car cannot be used or charged during installation. Do not interrupt a started update or use a failed-update vehicle; do not force power off, install downloaded unofficial packages or attempt a downgrade.
If that did not work
If installation fails, follow the displayed permitted Retry once after meeting its conditions. If it fails again, give XPENG the error, full versions, time, battery level and connection and ask for recovery/assistance. If no release is offered, keep the car online and ask for exact vehicle eligibility rather than repeatedly resetting it.
A short XOS number or another owner receiving an update does not assign a release to your car. The cited handbooks say an installed system cannot be rolled back.
