The sign shown on the dash, the speed-warning sound and the cruise-control set speed are three different things. If the displayed limit is wrong, follow the actual signs and the rules for your vehicle, not the dashboard estimate.
Checked 17 October 2026. A UK G6 owner asked about incorrect readings after national-speed-limit signs. This guide uses the original UK handbook, printed pages 83–84 and 115–117. It does not establish the behaviour of every later G6/XOS version or promise a software fix.
National speed limit does not always mean 70 mph
The applicable national limit depends on road and vehicle type, including whether you are towing. For an ordinary car not towing, GOV.UK lists 60 mph on single carriageways and 70 mph on dual carriageways and motorways, subject to other limits. A multi-lane road is not automatically a dual carriageway. Use the road layout, actual signs and applicable rules rather than converting every national-limit sign to one number. Check the official speed-limit table.
Identify which part is wrong
- The displayed sign: Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) provides limit information using sign recognition and navigation information in the cited handbook.
- The warning: visual and audible warnings depend on the speed-assistance selections. A warning based on a wrong reading does not change the legal limit.
- The cruise set speed: Speed Limit Assist (SAS) can apply a recognised limit to ACC/LCC when its adjustment mode is enabled. This is different from merely displaying a sign.
Do not assume that a wrong dashboard sign has changed cruise speed: check the actual set-speed indication while maintaining attention to the road. If assistance responds unexpectedly, take control using the method in your handbook; investigate settings only once safely parked.
Check the settings while parked
The original handbook groups these controls under Settings → Driver Assistance → Active Safety. Its SAS adjustment mode has a Driver Confirmation choice: with confirmation enabled, a limit change requires acceptance; without it, an eligible change can be applied without confirmation. Its TSR section separately describes display/alarm selections.
Read the choices present in your car and note which are selected. Do not toggle several unrelated assistance functions to solve one wrong sign. A display-only preference, a warning preference and an automatic cruise-adjustment preference do not do the same job. Menu names and persistence may change with XOS; no universal permanent-disable instruction is claimed here.
Use the location to narrow the problem
XPENG identifies recent road/limit changes, poor signs and camera limitations as reasons recognition can be inaccurate. Check whether the error occurs at one junction, temporary roadworks or many unrelated places. A repeat at one spot is useful evidence, but does not prove whether the camera or map supplied the incorrect value.
While parked, check for a camera-obstruction warning and an obvious dirty or obscured windscreen camera area. Use the handbook cleaning method without removing camera trim or adding coatings. A persistent fault warning needs a different investigation from an occasional wrong sign with no warning.
Send a report that can be checked
Record road name, direction, nearby junction, date, road/sign type, expected applicable limit, value shown, G6 edition and XOS version. Add whether ACC/LCC was active, the cruise set speed changed, or only the icon/sound was wrong. A passenger can safely note an event; do not use a handheld phone or recreate a dangerous response to obtain evidence.
Ask support to distinguish a location-data report from a vehicle fault and give you a case reference. An owner report does not establish that every UK G6 fails to recognise national-limit signs, and another market's update does not establish UK availability.

PRACTICAL NEXT STEP · MyXPENG
Test the behaviour. Keep the evidence.
Applies to: Original UK G6 TSR/SAS handbook sections; UK national limits depend on road and vehicle, including towing.
Evidence checked · Review due
Review is due. Recheck the primary source and your exact version before relying on changing details.
First useful check
Separate the recognised sign, speed warning and cruise set-speed in the parked settings review.
Read the result
A wrong recognised sign does not mean the legal road limit or the cruise setting has changed. Record the specific function affected.
Stop or change approach: Follow actual signs and applicable limits. Never film or troubleshoot a display while driving.
Prepare a useful record
Road/sign context without home location, indicated limit, cruise state and XOS.

Evidence and answer standard
Documented checks; outcome depends on the test. The date records an evidence review, not a physical test of your car. A forum report can identify a question; it cannot establish a universal repair.
