XPENG Driver-Assistance Systems: An Owner Safety Guide

Choose the right instructions first

On the earlier UK G6, the left/right buttons on the left steering-wheel spoke change the active ACC following gap, shown as one of five settings. Pressing the brake pedal or pulling the gearshift lever up cancels ACC/LCC; steering takeover alone can be temporary in LCC. Keep those actions specific to that handbook. Learn the function before using it

1. Identify the function in the handbook for your model, market and XOS. Similar names can have different limits and fitted hardware.
2. While parked, set the seat and mirrors, identify the controls and read how the function activates, warns and cancels.
3. Check for a camera/radar obstruction message and clean only the accessible areas described by the handbook.
4. Use assistance only in suitable conditions, watching the road and remaining ready to brake or steer. Cancel early for poor markings, roadworks, worsening visibility or unexpected behaviour.
5. After an intervention, park before checking the selected function, warning and changed software/settings. Keep the affected assistance off if abnormal behaviour repeats.

What to expect: You can recognise the actual active state, cancel promptly and drive safely with the assistance off when conditions do not suit it.

Take control first. Do not recreate dangerous braking or steering to obtain evidence, use a phone while driving, or continue against a stop warning.

G6 Auto Lane Change is missing or unavailable

First check that ALC is fitted to your exact car. XPENG UK's current New G6 page excludes it from RWD Standard Range. Working ACC or LCC does not establish that ALC is included, enabled or ready.

1. Read the parked setting. For the G6 matching the 2025 English RHD handbook, open vehicle controls → Driver Assistance → Driving → Auto Lane Change. Check its selected state and any displayed reason it cannot be used. Do not use another model's menu to infer a missing feature.
2. Open the car's own map before the journey. Check that it shows your current position rather than a stale or missing location. A public G6 owner discussion about XOS 5.8.7 reported ALC returning after the native map was reopened. That is an owner-confirmed observation for that reported car, not proof of a universal navigation fix or a need to set a destination for every lane change.
3. Use the availability indication, not the switch alone. This handbook describes ALC with LCC active and a direction indicator, and says the instrument display gives a prompt when lane-change conditions are unmet. If it remains unavailable, change lanes yourself only when safe and lawful. Do not repeatedly signal to force a test, or treat a map-based road classification as permission to cross a solid line.
4. Know the documented cancellation difference. In this 2025 RHD edition, braking cancels the lane change and exits ACC/LCC. Steering takeover cancels the lane change but LCC can resume when its conditions are met. Check the display rather than assuming steering input has permanently switched assistance off.

If it stays unavailable: continue normal manual driving. Once parked, keep the fitted derivative, full XOS, ALC switch state, native-map position result and exact availability prompt. Ask XPENG to check that combination against the car's equipment and release, including navigation/location input if reopening the map changed the result. Do not disable warnings or import a shared XCOMBO code to make assistance appear available.

If that did not work

Give XPENG the exact model/build, function, warning and road/weather context for a repeated event. Ask it to distinguish sensor obstruction, configuration and a vehicle fault. If braking or steering is abnormal with assistance off, arrange the appropriate urgent inspection or recovery.
