Additional driver: the original UK handbook's authorisation route

For a car and app matching the original UK G6 handbook, printed page 158, the invited driver first registers and signs in to their own XPENG app account. The existing authorised user then opens Settings → Authorization in their app and adds that account. The invited driver accepts and activates their Bluetooth key. The handbook describes internet connectivity for this setup, possible delayed feedback and a maximum of five authorised users. These are edition-specific instructions, not a promise about every later app.

Keep an authorised physical key available and check the accepted authorisation before testing access while parked. Then check the active car account, saved seat/mirror habit and media phone separately using the retained checklist below. Successful door access does not establish that all three switched automatically.

If the named menu is absent, the invitation stays pending or the wrong vehicle/account appears, stop before deleting working access or sharing passwords. Record the exact stage and app/XOS versions. Ask support to check the existing owner's authorisation and the invited account against that vehicle, rather than asking only why “Bluetooth” fails. Submit identifying account details privately.

Original UK G6: additional-driver sequence. This supplies the documented route alongside the existing practical advice; retain an owner-confirmed newer route when it matches your actual app.

When two people use a G6, the car account, saved seating preference, phone key and audio connection are separate things to check. Solving one does not automatically select the others.

Keep these four layers separate

  • Account: the user signed in on the car's display. The original UK handbook describes signing in and switching accounts by scanning a displayed QR code with the mobile app.
  • Saved habit: the seating and mirror preference within the selected account. The same handbook describes multiple saved habits; this is not evidence of automatic driver recognition on every software version.
  • Phone key: the authorised Bluetooth key used for access. The handbook distinguishes key Bluetooth from media Bluetooth.
  • Media connection: the phone supplying calls or music. Seeing a phone connected for audio does not prove that its owner's seat preference or account is selected.

A useful first setup for two drivers

  1. Park with space for the seat to move. Identify the account shown on the car and the saved preference currently selected.
  2. Check each driver's authorised access using the supported process for your app and vehicle. Ask XPENG or the supplying retailer for the current additional-driver process if it is unclear; this guide does not invent an invitation menu.
  3. Select and check each driver's seat and mirrors before driving. Confirm any displayed movement warning and keep clear of moving parts.
  4. Check which phone handles calls and music separately. Then repeat the observation with just one driver's phone nearby and, later, with both present.
  5. Write down what changes automatically and what still needs manual selection. That gives both drivers a reliable handover routine.

This is an editorial setup checklist. Do not share an account password as a workaround, remove the only working key, or log out of an account until you understand the effect on access and available functions.

If the wrong profile or phone keeps returning

Record the active car account, saved habit, phone-key holder and audio phone at the time. Include the app versions, phone operating systems and full XOS version. Describe whether it happens with one phone, both phones, after a driver change or after an update.

Change one supported setting at a time and observe while parked. Turning off all Bluetooth is a poor diagnostic shortcut if you rely on the phone key; it can change both access and audio behaviour at once. Keep an authorised physical key available for any phone-key investigation.

For an audio connection fault, use the existing G6 Bluetooth guide. For ownership transfer, use the proper transfer process rather than treating a second driver as a new owner.

What to ask support

“For this UK G6 and XOS version, how should each additional driver be authorised, how do we select their saved preference, and which parts are expected to switch automatically?” Ask for those three answers separately. A statement about app sharing alone does not explain seating or media priority.

Source and scope

Reviewed 16 October 2026. Original G6 UK handbook, printed pages 44–45 covers accounts and habits; printed pages 157–159 distinguish key Bluetooth and describe phone-key operation. Available through XPENG UK's owners resources. Menus, limits and automatic behaviour can differ on later cars or software. The diagnostic checklist is original MyXPENG guidance.

First useful check

With a physical key available, use the matching handbook/app invitation route; confirm the invited account accepts before separately checking phone-key access, saved habits and media priority.

Read the result

The invited account has accepted its vehicle authorisation and its key works during a parked check; seat/mirror habit and media selection must still be checked separately.

Stop or change approach: Keep working authorised access and a physical key. Do not share passwords, remove the only working key, disconnect vehicle power or drive after a failed-update notice contrary to the matching instructions.

Prepare a useful record

Exact G6 edition, full XOS/app versions, account-authorisation or update stage, complete displayed error, time and the observed result; supply account/vehicle identifiers privately only when needed.

Keep registration, VIN, account numbers and personal addresses out of this note. Nothing typed here is sent to us or saved automatically. Copy it before leaving the page.

Evidence and answer standard

Original UK G6 handbook procedure supplements the complete retained owner checklist. The date records an evidence review, not a physical test of your car. A forum report can identify a question; it cannot establish a universal repair.
