The G6 uses Bluetooth for more than one job. Media and calls, phone-key access, account login and wireless phone projection can overlap but are not the same connection. Identify which job has failed before deleting pairings.
Before you start
Park before changing connection settings. Keep a physical key or NFC card available when phone-key access is involved. Confirm the phone has useful battery charge, Bluetooth is on and neither device is in flight mode.
Do this in order
- Name the failed function: calls, music, CarPlay, Android Auto, automatic profile login, unlock or drive authorisation.
- Open Device Connection on the central display and check whether the phone appears under connected Bluetooth devices. Compare that with the phone Bluetooth screen.
- Disconnect other nearby family phones temporarily so the G6 cannot automatically choose a previously preferred device.
- For ordinary media or calls, remove the pairing from both the vehicle and phone, restart both normally and pair again while parked.
- For phone key, use key management in the XPENG app; do not attempt to pair key Bluetooth as though it were a media device.
- Test one function at a time—first calls or audio, then projection, and finally phone-key behaviour with the physical backup still present.
If that did not solve it
- Allow the requested Bluetooth, nearby-device, contact and background permissions appropriate to the feature.
- Check whether battery optimisation is suspending the XPENG app.
- Set the intended media phone as the preferred or frequently used device where the installed XOS offers that control.
- Test a second compatible phone to separate a vehicle fault from one phone profile.
What success looks like
The intended phone reconnects after a normal lock–leave–return cycle, calls use the vehicle microphone and speakers, media resumes correctly and any phone-key function works independently of the media pairing.
Prepare a useful support handover
Do not keep repeating resets or changing unrelated settings. Record the following while the symptom is fresh:
- Record phone make, model and operating-system version.
- Note G6 model year, XOS version and wired or wireless projection.
- State exactly which function fails and whether a second phone behaves differently.
Keep passwords, verification codes, precise location history and unrelated personal information out of screenshots or messages.
Exact-car and safety boundary
Do not delete the only working digital key unless a physical backup is present. Menu names and supported phone-key functions vary by phone, permissions, model year and XOS.

Other ways owners describe this
G6 Bluetooth not working, phone not pairing, Bluetooth drops out, wrong phone connects, CarPlay will not connect, Android Auto disconnects, phone key Bluetooth problem.
