If the map or music is not working, first identify which connection the feature uses. The car's own mobile connection, a phone's internet connection, media Bluetooth and a Bluetooth key are different paths.
Identify what actually stopped
- Car-based online service: note the car's network indication and whether another native online service works.
- Phone-based app or projection: check the phone's own data connection and the connection required by your supported phone integration.
- Calls or Bluetooth music: check the selected audio phone. Bluetooth pairing alone does not establish that the car has internet access.
- Phone key: the original UK handbook says an activated Bluetooth key can operate in places without a network. That does not make online navigation or streaming available.
Perform checks while parked. Do not assume a working phone signal proves that the vehicle's own connection is working.
A short connectivity check
- Record the exact failed feature and any message. Distinguish a map that does not load, a destination search that fails and a route already in progress.
- Note the location and car network indicator. Compare again in an open area with ordinary coverage when safely parked; garages and tunnels can affect connectivity.
- Check whether the issue affects one service or several. A single music-account failure needs a different report from all native online features failing.
- Record the time, XOS version and whether the issue persists across separate journeys. Ask support to check provisioning or service availability if the car remains offline.
Do not buy a data subscription, change a SIM or assume a hotspot is required without confirmation for your exact UK car. This guide does not establish an included-data allowance or renewal price.
Charging stops: check route preferences too
A missing charging stop is not automatically a connectivity fault. The original UK G6 handbook describes charging-route preferences for minimum arrival charge at a charger and at the destination, followed by a separate charging-planning step. It says stops are not added automatically if the current charge is sufficient to reach the destination.
That is evidence for the original handbook's system, not a promise that every current XOS screen is identical. Before a long trip, inspect the route and charging plan actually displayed. Check the intended charger, a practical alternative and your remaining charge. Do not assume the car will reproduce another manufacturer's arrival-charge display or spoken instructions.
Read the existing G6 cold-weather charging and preconditioning guide. Do not assume every navigation destination triggers battery preparation.
What to send support
“UK G6 [generation], XOS [full version]. At [time], [native feature] failed with [message]. The car showed [network indication]; [other native feature] did/did not work. My phone's connection was [separate observation]. The fault repeated [when].” Share precise private locations directly with support only when needed.
