Do not treat a locked charging cable as a strength problem. The vehicle and chargepoint may each control part of the release. Stop the session cleanly, unlock the car and confirm the state on both screens before using an emergency method.
Before you start
Park securely and keep children and passengers away from the connector. Stop immediately for smoke, unusual heat, smell, liquid, damaged pins, a torn cable or electrical noise. Do not touch damaged equipment; call the operator or emergency support.
Do this in order
- End charging from the vehicle, app or charging post—whichever is controlling the session—and wait until energy transfer has stopped.
- Unlock the X9 normally and wait briefly for the port-lock sound. Hold the plug body, not the cable, and test with light straight pressure only.
- Read the charging-post display. Complete any operator-specific stop, payment or cable-release instruction and call the helpline when the post still shows an active latch.
- If the vehicle remains the locking side, open Charging and Discharging → Charging on the central display and select Charging Connector Emergency Unplugging.
- Confirm the warning before proceeding. The X9 manual states that emergency unplugging ends charging prematurely when a session is still active.
If that did not solve it
- Check whether scheduled charging or charging heating is still displayed even though power appears low.
- Make one normal lock–unlock attempt with the recognised key or app; do not cycle it continuously.
- If the car releases at another charger but repeatedly sticks on one post, give the operator the post number and session time.
- If the locking pin looks misaligned or the same fault returns, arrange professional inspection before the next unattended session.
What success looks like
Both displays show the session ended, the plug releases without force and the inlet, cable and locking area appear clean and undamaged. The port door then closes normally.
Prepare a useful support handover
Do not keep repeating resets or changing unrelated settings. Record the following while the symptom is fresh:
- Capture the exact vehicle and charger wording.
- Record connector type, operator, post number, time and weather.
- Note XOS version, battery percentage and whether normal or emergency release succeeded.
Keep passwords, verification codes, precise location history and unrelated personal information out of screenshots or messages.
Exact-car and safety boundary
Never force, lever or dismantle the connector and never operate an emergency release around visibly damaged or energised equipment. Recovery instructions can vary with market and build.
