XPENG G9 Towing and V2L: International-Market Verification Guide

Use the exact G9’s vehicle plate, approved towing documents and V2L adaptor instructions to set the limits. On a car matching the English 2025 V5.6.0 handbook, trailer settings are under Vehicle → Trailer Mode while parked, and external power controls are under Charging and Discharging → Power Supply.

XPENG G9 international-market towing and V2L verification guide

Check the equipment before using either function

This is international G9 guidance, not a UK G9L specification. Towing approval, adaptor ratings and market requirements must match the actual derivative. The reviewed handbook’s numerical limits must not override a different vehicle plate or its supplied instructions.

Prepare the load and the power connection

  1. Towing: confirm the fitted towbar is approved for the exact car and market. Obtain braked and unbraked trailer limits, nose weight, gross train weight, axle limits and payload from its documents.
  2. Add passengers, luggage, accessories and towbar equipment to the vehicle load. Check the applicable licence, insurance and towing rules. Ask the fitter to resolve an unknown rating before attaching the trailer.
  3. For the matching V5.6.0 system, use Vehicle → Trailer Mode in P and follow the screen’s confirmation and connection instructions. Let the towbar finish moving. Check the displayed trailer state, lights, coupling, tyres and secured load before moving.
  4. Plan shorter charging legs with a generous reserve and sites that can accommodate the combination. Confirm how the exact car’s assistance, sensors and cameras behave with the trailer connected.
  5. V2L: use the approved, undamaged adaptor and equipment instructions. Check continuous and starting demand, the actual adaptor rating, the permitted environment and earthing requirements before connection.
  6. On the matching handbook screen, set the battery reserve under Charging and Discharging → Power Supply. That edition says external discharge is unavailable below 20%; your own car and adaptor instructions govern their limits.
  7. For the matching G9 handbook, open the charging flap, remove the port sealing cap and insert the approved discharge device into the slow/AC charging interface to begin supply. Keep plugs dry and cables fully unwound and check the appliance runs within its ratings. When finished, select End Power Supply on the centre screen, then unplug the discharge device and close the port.

If a mode or power supply will not start

Keep the car parked. Check the displayed reason, correct coupling/adaptor, battery reserve and the equipment’s rated demand against the supplied instructions. Record that message and the exact equipment ratings for the fitter or XPENG service centre; ask them to check compatibility and any towbar or discharge fault records. Do not bypass the interlock or repeatedly reconnect to clear a warning.
