XPENG G9 Phone Key Will Not Authorise Drive: International-Market Checks

A G9 door unlocking from the app does not prove that Drive is authorised. Open the official app again beside the car, keep it available in the background and use its Digital Key/Key Check flow before removing a credential.

XPENG G9 phone key drive authorisation guide

These key checks follow the 2025 international G9 handbook. Match the car and supported phone before changing credentials.

What to do

  1. Park with a working physical/NFC key present. Confirm the correct vehicle/account and check whether that backup can authorise normal starting.
  2. Unlock the phone, open the XPENG app near the driver’s door and check Bluetooth plus the permissions required by that app/platform.
  3. Open Digital Key and its Key Check for the affected phone. On the cited G9 app layout, a disconnected Bluetooth key offers Unlock only or Unlock start; choose the supported start-authorising option when you intend to drive, rather than treating an unlocked door as start authorisation.

If a gear cannot be engaged, reopen the XPENG app and run its Key Check while parked. Keep the app available in the background.

With Bluetooth connected, the handbook allows normal gear engagement within 20 minutes of app unlock. This is a time window after unlocking, not an instruction to wait 20 minutes; check that the car is ready before moving.

  4. Review background battery restrictions when the phone key is affected. Compare one normal lock–leave–return cycle with all closures secure and the backup still available.
  5. If the key has not been activated, open the XPENG app’s Digital Key screen, choose Bluetooth key → Activate and complete its prompts. Test normal starting with the authorised key present; do not cancel all digital keys to repair one phone.

What to expect: The key authorises both the intended entry and normal drive state; a working physical key or second phone narrows the failure to the original phone/account path.

Do not delete the only working key, reset the whole vehicle, weaken the phone lock screen or share passwords/security codes. Keep a working physical backup during every access comparison.

If that did not work

If no authorised key works, stop repeated resets and contact XPENG/roadside support. Otherwise give support the phone/OS/app/full XOS, account/permission state and backup/second-phone outcomes; ask it to check that phone’s drive credential and background/Key Check requirements.

This is the international 2025 G9 handbook, not a G9L or later UK specification. Confirm exact vehicle and handset eligibility.
