First decide whether the problem affects calls and music, smartphone projection, the XPENG account or the phone key. Those paths can use Bluetooth differently, so deleting everything at once can remove a working feature without repairing the failed one.

Before you start

Make changes while parked. Carry the physical key or NFC backup whenever testing phone-key access. Charge the phone, disable flight mode and check that another previously paired phone is not taking priority nearby.

Do this in order

  1. On the G9 central display, open Device Connection and compare its connected-device status with the phone Bluetooth list.
  2. Disconnect additional phones and wearables temporarily, then test the intended phone by itself.
  3. For calls or media, forget the G9 on the phone and remove that media profile from the car. Restart both and approve the new pairing prompts.
  4. Grant only the permissions needed for calls, contacts, audio or projection and confirm the output device during a parked test call.
  5. For the phone key, use the XPENG app and key-management flow rather than ordinary Bluetooth pairing. Keep the app running as required by the manual.
  6. Lock the vehicle, move out of range and return once to verify a fresh reconnection rather than relying on the just-created session.

If that did not solve it

  • Review the phone operating system and XPENG app for pending updates.
  • Disable aggressive background battery restriction for the XPENG app when phone-key connection is affected.
  • Test wired projection if wireless projection is the only failing service.
  • Compare with a second compatible phone before concluding that the vehicle hardware is faulty.

What success looks like

The chosen phone reconnects consistently after returning to the car, audio and calls use the expected route, and phone-key behaviour remains available without sacrificing the physical backup.

Prepare a useful support handover

Do not keep repeating resets or changing unrelated settings. Record the following while the symptom is fresh:

  • Save G9 model year and installed XOS.
  • Record phone, operating system, XPENG app version and permission state.
  • Describe whether media, calls, projection, profile login, unlock or drive authorisation fails.

Keep passwords, verification codes, precise location history and unrelated personal information out of screenshots or messages.

Exact-car and safety boundary

Bluetooth behaviour can change with regional equipment, phone hardware and XOS. Never rely on a newly repaired phone key as the sole access method until repeated normal journeys confirm it.
