XPENG X9 child locks and Baby-in-Car Mode
For the X9 MY26 English RHD V5.8.5 layout, open Control Center and enable the door, window and rear-control-screen locks you need. The earlier 2025-titled X9 handbook uses Window & Door → Baby-in-Car Mode, with additional fitted seat, refrigerator and rear-screen controls. Check each selected control while parked with an adult supervising from outside.

Start here
Park and keep an adult outside the vehicle during testing. Explain to adult rear passengers that an active child lock prevents opening the corresponding door from inside. Never use the function as a substitute for supervision.
- Choose the matching control: on MY26 V5.8.5, tap the Control Center icon — two stacked horizontal switch bars — on the centre screen. On the earlier 2025-titled layout, open Window & Door → Baby-in-Car Mode.
- Enable the door child lock. On the earlier Baby-in-Car layout, select the required rear-door locks. A passenger-window lock is a separate control; it does not establish that the door is locked against inside opening.
- Enable the passenger-window lock as needed. MY26 Control Center also provides a rear control screen lock; enable that separately if needed. The earlier Baby-in-Car layout additionally describes fitted seat, refrigerator and rear-screen manual-control locks; use those options on that matching layout.
- With an adult supervising outside, confirm the protected inside door release and selected controls no longer operate.
- Confirm the doors still open safely from outside when the vehicle is unlocked, and that the driver can restore each function.

What success looks like
Every selected control is disabled and the centre screen shows the relevant locks as active. Unselected controls continue to work. The setting should be rechecked after a profile, software or vehicle change.
Never leave a child alone in the vehicle. Use a suitable restraint and adult supervision; verify locks while parked with an adult outside, rather than asking a child to test a door.
If that did not work
If windows are locked but a rear door still opens from inside, check that the door child lock is enabled as well. If the rear control screen still responds, check its separate lock. Confirm the selected function before treating a different working control as a fault.
If any selected door or control still operates, do not rely on the mode for that seating position. Give XPENG the selected control, affected door/seat, screen photo, model year and full XOS, and ask for that lock/control to be checked before relying on it for a child.
