XPENG G9 Charging Cable Release: International-Market Safety Checks

Stop the G9 charging session, confirm it has ended and unlock normally before withdrawing the connector straight out. In the cited 2025 G9 handbook, the centre-screen Unlock Charge Gun button is not displayed for a DC connection or a closed charge flap.

These release controls follow the 2025 international G9 handbook. Use the exact supplied access-cover and release-ring diagram.

What to do

  1. End charging using the supported vehicle/app/chargepoint control and wait for the charger and car to confirm the stopped state.
  2. Unlock normally, support the cable’s weight and press the connector’s intended release. Withdraw straight without force; if loaded sideways, support it and gently seat it before retrying normal release once.
  3. If the public charger still reports an active/failed session, call its operator with the unit/connector ID rather than pulling a release.
  4. For a matching AC setup, the handbook shows Charging and Discharging → Help → Emergency Unlock Gun. Follow the actual interface; do not search for that button on a DC setup that omits it.
  5. Only after charging has finished and the centre screen has exited charging/heating status, open the boot and identify the charging-port service cover in the diagram below.

Open that cover with an appropriate tool, identify the illustrated charge-port release ring and pull it to unlock, then withdraw the supported plug straight out.

Stop if the cover, ring or stopped state cannot be positively identified; do not pull a neighbouring cable. This is an emergency action, not a routine release method.

What to expect: The inlet lock releases and the supported connector withdraws easily. A problem confined to one public unit is distinct from a vehicle lock that repeatedly stays engaged.

Never force/twist/lever a plug or pull a mechanical release during active charging. Stop for heat, damage, contamination, electrical warnings or an unclear release point, and use the appropriate operator/roadside route.

If that did not work

Give the operator/XPENG the site/connector ID, AC/DC, time, battery percentage, warnings and stopped-state results on car/app/charger. Ask the operator to confirm session termination and XPENG to check the inlet lock/communication if the vehicle-side failure repeats.

The mechanical ring is an emergency measure in this handbook; frequent use can damage its mechanism. This international G9 layout does not establish the G9L or later UK procedure.
