Build access in layers
A phone key is convenient, but it should never be the only tested way into the vehicle. Exact functions depend on model year, handset, app, XOS and regional support.
- Set up the primary supported phone access method while parked.
- Test every supplied physical key or NFC card using the handbook procedure.
- Where appropriate, confirm another authorised household driver has access.
- Keep a working backup separate from the phone—not in the same bag.
Phone permissions
Bluetooth, nearby-device, location, background-app and battery settings can affect proximity features. Grant only permissions requested by the official app. Recheck them after phone, app or XOS updates.
Rehearse the backup
- Locate the documented emergency-entry and backup-detection methods.
- Test digital entry once as described by the official instructions.
- Confirm the physical backup works before a time-critical journey.
If the phone is lost or flat
Use the documented backup method; never force a handle or remove trim. Protect the phone account and wallet from another trusted device. Contact XPENG if a digital key remains linked to a device you no longer control.
Owner rule: never leave every working access method inside the vehicle, and never casually delete the last working credential.
