XPENG G6 Buyer Assessment: Is It Right for Your Requirements?
The G6 is worth considering when its verified specification fits your journeys, passengers, charging access and total budget. Use a representative test drive and like-for-like costs instead of deciding from one acceleration figure or monthly payment.

Create the requirements before viewing
- Write down required range, charging, space, accessibility and total budget.
- Confirm the current UK model year, battery, drivetrain, wheels and options.
- Record warranty, connected services and expected delivery XOS.
- Separate standard equipment from market-specific photography.
Test the difficult parts
- Drive a representative route including poorer surfaces and faster roads.
- Bring normal passengers and representative luggage.
- Check visibility, seat comfort, screen controls, parking access and phone integration.
- Test whether regular charging networks and home charging suit the real routine.
Calculate total ownership
Include purchase or finance cost, insurance, home/public charging mix, tyres, servicing, parking and expected depreciation. Compare alternatives using identical mileage and finance assumptions.
Turn the charging question into a number
On a comparable test drive or an existing car, divide miles driven by battery percentage points used. An illustrative 100 miles using 40 points is2.5miles per point. Starting at 70% and keeping 20% leaves 50 points, roughly 125 miles at that observed use. Allow more reserve for cold, speed, load and diversions; this is not a G6 test result. If your usual trip exceeds the workable leg, include a reliable charging stop in the decision rather than treating WLTP as that journey’s range.
For electricity cost, divide monthly miles by observed miles/kWh and allow separately for charging losses. Multiply the metered home and public kWh by their own prices, then add membership/parking fees. Compare the same mileage, period and ownership outcome across quotes; do not add full finance repayments and depreciation twice.
Confirm support
Verify servicing access, roadside assistance and repair arrangements. Pause if documents conflict, important functions cannot be demonstrated, local support is unsuitable or the charging plan depends on optimistic assumptions.
Decision rule
The G6 is worth buying only when the verified configuration fits the owner’s journeys and total budget better than realistic alternatives—not because of one feature, discount or short test drive.
