XPENG UK advertises a 10–80% time of 12 minutes at up to 451 kW for the New G6. That is a controlled headline result under suitable conditions, not a promise for every charger or every battery state.
Why a session will not hold the peak
Peak power is a short maximum, not the session average. The vehicle follows a charging curve, so power normally changes with battery percentage and falls as the battery fills. Temperature, charger capability, cable temperature, shared site supply and battery protection can reduce it further.
Test a session fairly
- Confirm the exact G6 derivative and its published peak above.
- Choose a reliable charger rated at or above that peak.
- Where supported, navigate to it through the vehicle so battery preparation can begin.
- Arrive at a low but safe battery percentage and record outside temperature.
- Record start and finish percentage, total time, energy added and the highest observed power.
If charging seems too slow
- Read messages on both the charger and vehicle.
- Check whether the battery was cold, hot or already at a high percentage.
- Repeat at another proven compatible charger under similar favourable conditions.
- Compare the complete 10–80% session where practical—not one brief kW reading.
- Save charger ID, receipt, timestamps, percentages, temperature and warnings for support.
Stop immediately if the connector, cable or inlet becomes abnormally hot, damaged or produces a warning.
